The Strand Hotel in Namibia’s most popular seaside resort of Swakopmund is the perfect spot to unwind for a few days. The cooler temperatures of this popular coastal town are a welcome contrast to the arduous but rewarding safaris into Etosha National Park, the solitude and spectacular scenery of the Namib Desert or the barren landscapes and rock art associated with Twyfelfontein.
The contemporary style and appearance of the Strand Hotel is a gentle reminder of its German heritage that is characteristic of most buildings in Swakopmund. Inside the hotel is bright and airy with contemporary decoration and superb views of the crashing Atlantic Ocean waves. Mole beach, the jetty, the public gardena, Swkopmund Museum, are nearby and the town centre is a mere 300m away.

There is plenty to do in Swakopmund which bills itself as the ‘Adventure capital of Africa’. Quad bike trails in the desert are very popular and they cater for all levels, even first time beginners can enjoy it. (Said with experience!) Also popular are the 4×4 Desert drives and the Boat trips from nearby Walvis Bay. These enjoyable cruises go out into the busy fishing bay to see sea lions, dolphins and Pelicans. Drinks and snack food are usually provided on the excursions.
